The name BRACHYSTELMA TANZANIENSIS was given by Ralph Peckover, a member of the Asclepiadaceae family, only in 2019. The caudiciform plant is found only in the Dodoma and Iringana region of Tanzania. Tanzaniensis is accustomed to well-drained soil. It needs to be oriented in a moderate to strong sunny location for healthy growth. The plant produces a caudex up to 13 centimetres in diameter – which is entirely hidden in the soil. One of its characteristic features are the very distinctive and large purple-white flowers.
