The name EUPHORBIA STELLATA was given by the representative of the family Euphorbiaceae – Carl Ludwig von Willdenow in 1799. This caudiciform plant is found in the Eastern Cape in South Africa. E. stellata grows very well in a permeable substrate with plenty of sand, minimal water and very strong sunlight. From autumn to spring the caudiciform plant does not need a drop of water. The caudex can grow to nine or more centimetres in diameter, however in the wild the caudex commonly spreads underground. The branches have the potential to reach a length of fifteen centimeters. The flowers are greenish yellow. Euphorbia stellata is regulated under CITES Appendix II.
