The name FOCKEA COMARU was given by the representative of the family Asclepiadaceae – Nicholas Edward Brown in 1908. According to the latest taxonomic system APG IV 2016, Asclepiadaceae is now part of Apocynaceae. This caudiciform plant grows in southern Namibia and Soth Africa, in well-drained soil with moderate watering and strong sunshine. Caudex reaches up to 60 cm in diameter and the plant can grow up to two metres tall. Fockea comaru does not shed all its leaves despite the summer season. The flowers of Fockea comaru exhibit shades ranging from greyish to brownish green.
