The name KEDROSTIS AFRICANA was given by the representative of the family Cucurbitaceae – Célestin Alfred Cogniaux IN 1881. This caudiciform plant is found in Namibia and South Africa. K. africana growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The vines grow to five metres or more in length and the caudex up to 50 centimetres in diameter. The flowers are yellow with green veins. The leaves are more round with unlike other species of kedrostis.
