The name RAPHIONACME BURKEI was given by the representative of the family Asclepiadaceae – Nicholas Edward Brown in 1907. According to the latest taxonomic system APG IV 2016, Asclepiadaceae is now part of Apocynaceae. This caudiciform plant is found in Angola, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. R. burkei growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The vines grow to two metres or more in length and the caudex up to 30 centimetres in diameter. The flowers are greenish.
